EXCLUSIVE: Here’s the first look at Matt Yoka’s Whirlybird, which has its world premiere in the U.S. Documentary Competition at the Sundance Film Festival on Sunday. The A&E Indiefilms feature film follows Zoey Tur and his then-wife Marika Gerrard, who helped create breaking news reporting in Los Angeles in the 1980s and ’90s with their work both on the ground and in the air.

ASCAP announces 2020 Music Cafe lineup

ASCAP (The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) announces an eclectic music lineup for its 22nd Annual Sundance ASCAP Music Café, taking place Jan. 24-31 at 751 Main St. during the acclaimed Sundance Film Festival.

ASCAP composers and foreign affiliates who have scored Festival films and New Frontier projects this year include Ty Segall (“Whirlybird”).

NEWS Sundance 2020 to premiere new work from Benh Zeitlin, Julie Taymor, Ai Weiwei, Liz Garbus

The Fox Searchlight pair of Benh Zeitlin’s Beasts Of The Southern Wild follow-up Wendy and Force Majeure remake Downhill will join Focus Features’ Carey Mulligan drama Promising Young Woman and Ai Weiwei’s latest documentary Vivos in the 118-strong selection of features announced for the 2020 Sundance Film Festival.

The line-up, unveiled on Wednesday (December 4) includes Dear White Peopledirector Justin Simien’s return to Park City with Bad Hair, Julianne Moore as feminist icon Gloria Steinem in Julie Taymor’s The Glorias, and Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Colman in The Father.

Sundance 2020 lineup includes Taylor Swift documentary

Taylor Swift is coming to Sundance.

The singer’s documentary “Taylor Swift: Miss Americana” is part of the 2020 lineup for the film festival, according to a Wednesday announcement, along with 118 feature films scheduled for the 11-day event.

The Utah-based festival, which begins Jan. 23 and runs through Feb. 2, will also feature a slew of Oscar nominees and newcomers selected from a record high 15,100 submissions.
