Some fun candid photos of me hanging out with Calpernia, writer Ron Nyswaner, and actor Lee Pace. What a lovely surprise! I thought the film would have nothing on it.
Bonus shot: My Facebook friend Raven Nevermore retouched the one of Ron and me!
I had the pleasure of attending the Los Angeles premiere of The Danish Girl. Following the screening I had a chance to say hello to director Tom Hooper and thank him for taking on this project, which was 17 years in the making.
On Fuse, Transcendent became the network’s top-rated new original series in the target demo, adults 18-34, when it launched last month. [Chris McCarthy, general manager of VH1 and Logo] dubbed them “the Norman Lears of the LGBTQ community” and said their shows have “pushed the conversation” in popular culture and in entertainment. Had it not been for 2008’s Transamerican Love Story on Logo and other “360-degree” looks at trans issues, there would be no I Am Cait, he said.
Thanks to Ari Karpel and everyone on the Outfest board and staff for putting together another lovely Legacy Awards event to raise funds for preserving LGBT media! The Legacy Project’s next big restoration is The Queen. Check out this montage by legendary performer Heather Fontaine.
With our Lady J at the 2015 event.

As previously announced, Tom Hanks will be honored with the Trailblazer Award in recognition of his Oscar-winning role as a man grappling with HIV/AIDS in Jonathan Demme’s “Philadelphia” (1993); Lisa Cholodenko is receiving the Visionary Award, which recognizes artistic and creative contributions to LGBT media visibility, for her myriad LGBT-oriented films and television efforts (including “The Kids Are All Right”).
Presenters this year will be actors Aaron Eckhart and Rosemarie Dewitt. Master of Ceremonies will be comedian Whitney Cummings (whose sarcastic spirit made cancelled NBC sitcom “Whitney” a very guilty pleasure). Grammy winner and LGBT advocate Linda Perry, most famous for her much-remixed 4 Non Blondes single “What’s Up?,” will perform at the Legacy Awards.
The first(?) season of Fuse’s Transcendentended with a simple, three-part structure centered on S.F. Pride, at which the ladies performed as a group and as backup twerkers for Big Freedia.
For the finale episode airing tonight, titled “Facing The Truth,” it’s going to be quite emotional. Bionka has a long overdue heart-to-heart with her grandmother, and L.A. isn’t sure how her father will respond when she reveals her true identity. The ladies also get a last-minute request to perform with Big Freedia at San Francisco Pride.
