Three job opportunities at Trans Wellness Center [2017]
Via LA LGBT Center’s Gina Bigham:
I just received word of three amazing employment opportunities at the new Trans Wellness Center that I wanted to share with you all ASAP. The positions being offered include a Trans Wellness Center Program Manager, Trans Wellness Center Program Coordinator, and Trans Wellness Center Health Education Specialist II. I have included a thumbnail of the job descriptions below and have attached pdf’s with the full descriptions. Please note that these positions will require more than just being trans/GNC. They are looking for self-starters who can create a program and be its first stewards. Applicants should have an ability to work with and help build consensus among different personalities and people from diverse backgrounds.
The first round of interviews are being scheduled for over the next two weeks! So please have a look at the job descriptions and if you feel your qualifications are a fit for any of these positions, please email the Center’s Director of Community Health Programs, Dustin Kerrone, LMFT directly at dkerrone@lalgbtcenter.org. to schedule an interview or learn more about the position.

Discussing transgender dating with Michelle on Melbourne’s Joy 94.9
Thanks to Michelle Sheppard at Transgender Point of View for having me on to discuss transgender dating, with a focus on my work updating Tinder’s gender options.
Andrea James, who is an American transgender rights activist, film producer, director, and blogger, joins Michelle for a chat about dating and the changes made in popular dating app Tinder as well as some of her current and upcoming media projects.

Transproofed now available on REVRY
Our film on transgender dating and disclosure is now on REVRY!
Ava is a transsexual woman who has recently completed her transition. When Ava invites her hot new boyfriend over for dinner, she calls her best friend Joyce, who suggests hiding all the evidence that she’s trans. While transproofing the apartment, Ava starts to wonder if she really wants to hide her true identity.

As I see it, Andrea, our community is seriously in need of some good, positive PR. Your offer to “put the word out” is greatly appreciated – that’s what we’re seeking. The journey, as all sisters know, begins with the first step. Thanks again, and best wishes for your continued success,Aleshia
Interview about my voice training techniques
Nice interview by James Beth Merritt on my voice techniques.
If this post comes across sometimes sounding like a cheering section for Andrea as a personal voice guru, that’s only because I think she provides a tremendous service. I had been working on developing a full female voice for months before I came across her work, and as I’ve discovered since, all of the resources I was using were leading me down a path that would not be successful. Andrea’s videos made a big difference for me, and then some personal coaching made an even bigger difference. I’m not prepared to show off a complete female voice yet, but I’m getting closer every week, and there have been a few situations already where my voice has passed. (Note: I’m not receiving anything for posting this. I honestly do think she’s that great.)

Don’t Forget the Long, Proud History of Transgender Activism
Thanks to The Advocate for the mention!
The Advocate had featured trans actress Alexandra Billings on our cover nearly a decade earlier, but it wasn’t until 2005 that she became the second out trans woman to play a trans character on television (Romy and Michelle: A New Beginning). By then, the behind-the-scenes work trans women like Calpernia Addams and Andrea James were doing in the entertainment industry finally began paying off as more impactful casting came in 2007, when Hawaiian actress Candis Cayne was chosen to star on the series Dirty Sexy Money.
