Reminder: I’ll be hosting a special screening of Ma Vie En Rose on November 19, and we’ll also be showing a quick clip of Queens at Heart, one of Outfest’s film restoration projects this year!
If you haven’t seen this, it’s my favorite film about gender-variant children, funny and sad and delightful and fabulous all in one!
Wednesday, November 19 6:30pm Absolut pre-reception 7:30pm screening
MA VIE EN ROSE
Dir. Alain Berliner, 1997, France/Belgium/UK, 88 min.
Ludo, a sensitive child assigned as a boy at birth, does not identify as a boy and hopes for a miraculous transformation into a girl. Ludo’s family soon realizes this isn’t a role-playing fantasy. Conflicts with teachers, neighbors, friends, and each other culminate in a moving, hopeful ending.
We’ll be having a cocktail reception before the film, so come a little early, enjoy some delicious Absolut drinks (or water for you teetotalers), and enjoy a really lovely film that’s even better on the big screen! Two important films in our community’s history, and a party! What’s not to love?
