Trans Sister Tales wrap-up

Thanks to all who came out for the show last night! It felt good to get back on stage after an extended absence. There’s something very focusing about live theater that’s good to do now and then. My piece was called “There’s Something I Need to Tell You,” which I explain in the piece is the cliché set-up line for telling someone you’re trans. It starts off all serious, as if I am about to tell someone, but then I break into what is essentially a comedy set.

I gave some helpful pointers on how NOT to do it, based on my extensive personal experience, such as:

Never come out to win an argument: “Oh, yeah?? We’ll I’m a transsexual, so there!”

I told a few stories about people I have told, then wrapped it up all nice and upbeat:

There’s something I need to tell you, and I say it with pride, not shame, and joy, not tears. I am proud to be counted among so many amazing women. There’s something I need to tell you. I am a transsexual woman!

Above is a photo with one of my biggest supporters, Michael. Sorry it’s a little out of focus – my camera is a little hard to use if you haven’t used it before.

It was great to reconnect with many people I haven’t seen in a long time!
